Experienced Electricians

A worker may begin at one of several levels, based on the extent of their prior experience:

Do you have experience in electrical construction, and can you provide proof of prior electrical experience? (W-2s, pay stubs, letter from employer, etc.)

Based on hours of experience, you could be placed in the Construction Electrician (CE) program. This is an hours-based advancement program. 

These positions are not apprenticeships.

Significant Experience in Electrical Construction:

Inside Construction Electrician (CE):  

CE-1 starting wage is 65% of Inside Journeyman wage, or $29.17, plus benefits.

Classifications, Hours, and Wages:

CE-1: 6001-8000 hrs, 65% of Journeyman wage

CE-2: 8001-10000 hrs, 70% of Journeyman wage

CE-3: 10001-14000 hrs, 80% of Journeyman wage

Journeyman Electrician: 

Do you have a current Wisconsin state license as a Journeyman Electrician? If so, you are able come on board with your license and receive Journeyman Wages and benefits of $48.55 per hour and $73.26 per hour total compensation (including employer-paid health care and retirement)

Testing In

Another way to join the IBEW team is to take the Local-administered Journeyman’s test. To qualify for exam, just complete an application and provide requested documents substantiating at least 10,000 hours of electrical construction work history.
