About Us
IBEW HISTORY The nucleus of our union formed in 1890. Wiremen and linemen came from all over the United States to St. Louis to wire buildings and exhibits for an exposition. The men got together at the end of the workday and talked about their pay and conditions.
The IBEW Diversity and Full Inclusion Resolution is a result of the 2022 IBEW Convention. As it states, one of the IBEW's greatest strengths is the diversity of its membership. We are all stronger, when a sibling has access to more opportunities. As union members, our strength is in our collective skill and knowledge. That is what sets us apart.
IBEW 159 members come from many different backgrounds. We look forward to introducing you to some of them.  Please consider sharing your story. Read on, to meet Local 159 member Jim Virnig.
