It also includes a joint letter from IBEW/NECA on the importance of vaccination, as the country has seen more than 633,000 COVID deaths, greater than the U.S. death totals of the wars of the past 100 years (World War I, II; Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War, Afghanistan, and Iraq combined). “We are in a war — one of the deadliest wars we have ever seen as an American people.”

With FDA approval of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, IBEW/NECA leaders “implore each and every person in the electrical construction industry to become vaccinated against COVID-19.”
It cites the recent story of a Las Vegas father who died from the virus, and a message he sent his fiancee, “I should have gotten the damn vaccine.

Union activists and stewards will learn the best practices for grievance handling through various scenarios. This class will highlight multiple tools available to unionists for effectively fighting discipline, enforcing contract language, and winning grievances. Attendees will learn the updated tests for Just Cause and the arguments arbitrators rely on when deciding discipline cases. Attendees will receive several practical guides to help prepare them to defend co-workers on the job and strengthen their unions.

There are resources available for anyone in need of support, whether young or old; civilian or veteran. Help is available at  800-273 TALK (8255). If you’re uncomfortable talking on the phone, you can also text NAMI to 741-741 to be connected to a free, trained crisis counselor on the Crisis Text Line.

People can experience an emotional or mental health crisis due to a wide range of situations. For some, it might be the end of a personal relationship. For others, it might be the loss of a job. For Veterans, these crises can be heightened by their experiences during military service.
