September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

There are resources available for anyone in need of support, whether young or old; civilian or veteran. Help is available at  800-273 TALK (8255). If you’re uncomfortable talking on the phone, you can also text NAMI to 741-741 to be connected to a free, trained crisis counselor on the Crisis Text Line.

People can experience an emotional or mental health crisis due to a wide range of situations. For some, it might be the end of a personal relationship. For others, it might be the loss of a job. For Veterans, these crises can be heightened by their experiences during military service.

Veterans Crisis Line is available for online chat at, by phone at 800-273-8255 (press 1) and/or text 838255.

This free resource is operated 24/7. If you’re struggling, or are concerned about a vet and are looking for ways to help, please reach out to them.  If you had uncontrolled bleeding, you would seek emergency care… treat your mental health the same way!
